Welcome to Refined Uni

For me, having a blog to share my thoughts and opinions on topics that are relevant to my life, and the lives of those around me, has been a long time coming. Ask anyone who gave me more than 5 seconds to talk about it over the last 5 years and they’ll tell you that I’ve wanted to do this for a very long time.

Refined Uni is the realisation of an idea that has been brewing in my brain for longer than I care to admit, because it also means that I’ve not made any action towards it before. I think a part of that comes from never having had a true meaning behind the idea and as such, lacking any kind of motivation or drive to make it work. There have been so many iterations for a travel blog or a general advice blog (not that 15 year old Mia had the best advice to give), but now, I have an idea, a true application of the idea, and the drive to make it happen.

Refined Uni exists for both current and aspiring university students to gain access to all kinds of information and advice that is designed to be specifically relevant to this stage of their lives. The nature of this blog that it will evolve as I do and as I get older, the advice and information given will grow as well. It could come in the form of an article like this one, a recipe that I’ve picked up and discovered is remarkably cheap & simple (which is all you want at uni - trust me) or a random tid-bit of advice that I’ve either worked out on my own or picked up from someone else.

Regardless of how it’s presented, the aim of Refined Uni will always remain the same; to provide accessible advice and information, all in one place, that you can get to whenever you need, that's helpful for you in your own life.

In keeping with this, Refined Uni (I’ll probably start referencing it as RU pretty soon) is my opportunity to give other students what I didn’t have and so desperately wanted; Some good old-fashioned older sibling advice.

Coming into my first year of university last September I had almost no idea what I was doing and had gotten most of my advice from my parents (who went to university over 2 decades ago) or in random bursts on social media. I never found a place like this where all the information I could’ve ever wanted was collated in one place. So I made it.

With that - let me know - what type of advice and information do you want to see on the blog? Any specific articles you want writing or tips you want included in the newsletter? Comment below and I shall be sure to add your ideas into the rotation!

I hope you come to love this space I’ve created as much as I do and are able to gain as much from it as possible. Even if you learn one thing that you can apply to your own university applications or life, then I'll be happy with the impact I've made.

Thank you for being here, I hope you stick around and get to refine a bit of your life with some help from yours truly.

Mia
